Oklahoma Senate Republicans Reaffirm Choice of Senate Leader

 Republicans in the Oklahoma state Senate have reaffirmed an earlier vote in in which Sen. Mike Schulz of Altus was chosen as president pro tem-designate.

The senators on Wednesday affirmed a vote in April in which Schulz was originally named pro-tem designate. Wednesday's vote allows the 13 new Republican members of the Senate to vote on leadership positions.

The Senate will organize in January and the pro tem will be officially elected by the entire Senate and rules for the 201 session will be passed.

Schulz announced two appointments, naming Sen. Greg Treat of Oklahoma City as floor leader and Sen. Kim David of Porter as chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

The Senate includes 42 Republicans and six Democrats.
