Oklahoma Pedestrian Dies in Accident on Slick Highway

Winter.jpg

CHICKASHA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 56-year-old man has died after being struck by a car that was travelling on a turnpike made slick by freezing rain.

The patrol says Rodney James Carrol of Chickasha died at the scene of Saturday night's collision along the H.E. Bailey Turnpike in Grady County.

The patrol says the collision occurred about 11 p.m. along the turnpike, which was slick and hazardous at the time due to freezing rain. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The driver of the car was not injured in the collision, but a passenger was transported to an area hospital in critical condition with head injuries.
