Oklahoma Man Arrested for Threatening to Kill Congressman

File photo

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A spokesman for U.S. Rep. John Sullivan says the congressman's security has been enhanced after an Oklahoma man was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Sullivan.
Vaughn Jennings said Thursday that the congressman's office is cooperating with investigators. He declined further comment.

A complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Tulsa by the United States Capitol Police alleges that 52-year-old Wayne Franklin Miles walked into the Skiatook (SKY'-uh-tuk) Police Station on July 22 and threatened to kill Sullivan. The complaint says Miles alleged the congressman was having an affair with Miles' estranged wife.

A federal public defender appointed to represent Miles did not return phone calls or an email seeking comment.

Miles is in federal custody pending a bond hearing Monday.
