OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — It'll be a delayed honeymoon for one Oklahoma couple.
Larry Austin married his longtime girlfriend Thursday — moments after a judge sentenced him to four years in prison. Oklahoma County Judge Jerry Bass handed down the sentence, then performed the marriage ceremony.
Austin and Dustie Trojack, first obtained their marriage license Thursday in the company of two sheriff's deputies at Austin's side. Austin then pleaded guilty to a firearm charge and was sentenced to four years in federal prison.
Shortly afterward, Bass presided over Trojack and Austin's wedding. The couple kissed and Austin was turned over to federal authorities.
Austin's attorney, Scott M. Anderson, tells The Oklahoman that Austin helped raise Trojack's two sons and he didn't want to lose contact with them while he was in prison.
