OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Two local Amnesty International groups are holding their annual state conference at Oklahoma City University's Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel.
The Amnesty Oklahoma chapter and the OCU Amnesty Group are co-hosting the day-long conference beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Several morning and afternoon workshops are scheduled to cover how individual people can protect human rights.
Attorney Matthew Kane is set to give the keynote address, focusing on justice and war criminals in sub-Sahara Africa. Conference organizers say Kane interned with the Office of the Prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and has researched terrorism prevention.
Amnesty International bills itself as the world's largest grassroots human rights advocacy group.
