OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin says she's opposed to President Barack Obama's plan to cut carbon dioxide emissions at Oklahoma power plants because it will likely increase electricity costs for consumers.
Fallin said Monday Obama's "Clean Power Plan" represents one of the most expansive and expensive regulatory burdens ever imposed on U.S. families and businesses. She says the Environmental Protection Agency rule will have little environmental benefits but will lead to significant increases in utility costs across the nation.
The plan requires a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions at Oklahoma power plants by about 32 percent by 2030. Fallin says she supports Attorney General Scott Pruitt's efforts to block the guidelines. She says Oklahoma — not the federal government — knows best how to protect its environment while supporting the economy.
