OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Governor Mary Fallin has announced a new adjutant general to head the Oklahoma National Guard as well as a new secretary of veterans affairs.

Fallin says Brigadier General Robbie Asher will become adjutant general on February 2nd and will command the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard. He succeeds Major General Myles Deering, who will become the governor's secretary of veterans affairs, replacing Rita Aragon.

Fallin named Aragon to the new position of governor's liaison for veterans affairs. Aragon will be responsible for developing collaborative efforts for all Oklahoma agencies to better integrate services for Oklahoma's veterans and their families.

Fallin also added representatives of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the National Guard Association of Oklahoma to the Oklahoma Veterans Commission.
