Oklahoma Governor Addresses Republican National Convention

OKGOP-Facebook

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has urged delegates at the Republican National Convention to adopt the GOP platform developed by the party's 112-member platform committee that she co-chairs.

Fallin spoke to delegates Monday during a televised address from the convention hall in Cleveland. Fallin says diverse members of the party came together to develop a platform that represents a wide range of views and policies. She says it's a conservative platform that's a reflection of who Republicans are and what they stand for.

Republican delegates at the convention overwhelmingly adopted the party platform a short time after Fallin spoke. Among other things, it repeats the party's opposition to same-sex marriage and bathroom choice for transgender people.

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett briefly addressed the convention earlier Monday, the convention's first day.
