The spokesman for the Oklahoma Republican Party has resigned following the revelation of lewd comments made in 2005 by GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Brett Farley told The Associated Press that he resigned Saturday because the party has refused to repudiate Trump and to call for him to step down as the GOP nominee.
Many Republicans have called for Trump to step down after recorded comments of him bragging about his aggressive actions toward women.
Trump has apologized, but refused calls to leave the race.
Farley said he could not continue to work for a party "that offers passive support" to Trump by refusing to call for him to step aside.
Trump finished second to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in the GOP primary in Oklahoma, a solidly Republican state.
