Oklahoma Burns----- Again

By AP

Rush Springs, OK – 3 firefighters hurt while battling Okla. wildfire

RUSH SPRINGS, Okla. (AP) Three firefighters have been hurt and two homes have been destroyed in a wildfire in southwestern Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Michelann Ooten said late Wednesday that the firefighters received minor burns while battling a blaze near Rush Springs in Grady County.

Ooten says an Oklahoma National Guard helicopter helped crews on the ground get the fire under control and firefighters continued to monitor the area for flare-ups Wednesday night.

There were no other immediate reports of injuries or damage to homes.

Ooten says the National Guard also helped work on fires in the Twin Lakes area of Shawnee and near Byng in Pontotoc County.

She says fires also were reported near Bennington and on Sugarloaf Mountain in Bryan County in southern Oklahoma.
