Oklahoma Arts Council Seeks Nominations for Arts Awards

The Oklahoma Arts Council is seeking nominations for the 40th Annual Governor's Arts Awards.

The governor presents the awards each fall during a special ceremony at the state Capitol that recognizes individuals and organizations whose efforts in the arts have made an impact in communities, schools or across the state. Nominations are being accepted through Aug. 7.

Amber Sharples, executive director of the Oklahoma Arts Council, says the organization is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Governor's Arts Awards as well as the 50th anniversary of the Oklahoma Arts Council.

The Governor's Award recognizes individuals for longtime leadership and significant contributions to the arts across Oklahoma.

Other awards include the Arts in Education Award, which recognizes an individual, organization, school or group for their leadership and service in the arts.
