Officials Put Liquor Sales on November Ballot

MCALESTER, Okla. (AP) — Residents in an Oklahoma county will be able to vote this November on whether liquor can now be sold by the drink on Sundays.

The McAlester News-Capital reports Pittsburg County commissioners on Monday approved the issue appearing on the November ballot.

Chili's Bar & Grill in McAlester sought a vote on the issue so it could sell alcoholic drinks on Sundays. The restaurant's managing partner Candace Watkins says she requested the vote, because customers wanted to buy liquor on Sunday at the business.

Watkins says she plans on organizing a voting registration drive before the November election.
