Officals Search for Escaped Inmate in Adair County
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Adair County authorities are searching for a convicted killer who escaped from the county jail with another inmate.
Sheriff David Hardin says inmates Carlos Locust and Michael Pack overpowered a jailer around 10:30 p.m. Sunday and escaped. The jailer suffered minor injuries.
Television station KTUL reports that Pack was recaptured about four hours later and taken back into custody. But authorities say Locust remains at large.
Authorities describe Locust as "extremely dangerous." He was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder in June. Hardin says he and two other men stopped a victim on a county road and beat him to death.
Hardin says sheriff's deputies as well as the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the U.S. Marshals Service are involved in the countywide search for Locust.
