ODOT Recommends Avoiding South Leg of the IDL This Weekend

Major work is happening on bridges over the south leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop throughout the weekend.

With the deck being taken off the Main Street bridge over the IDL, south and westbound lanes are closed now until 7 a.m. Saturday. Then, north and eastbound lanes will close until 10 p.m. Sunday.

More major work is in store after this weekend.

"There's actually going to be two more weekends coming up where we will have total closures in order to replace beams on the bridge and set new beams on the bridge," said Oklahoma Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kenna Carmon. "So, there's still going to be a lot of closures ahead through September."

It’s also important to remember Main Street is now closed over the IDL until further notice.

"For Monday, for people going to work, they'll need to realize that Main Street is going to be closed and they'll need to either use Boston or another route," Carmon said.

ODOT is working on a $4.3 million dollar project to rehabilitate three bridges over the south leg of the IDL. Work should be complete sometime in the fall.
