Now at Philbrook --- "To Live Forever: Egyptian Treasures from the Brooklyn Museum"

Tulsa, Oklahoma – For thousands of years, the belief in life after death was a widespread commonplace --- if not a defining hallmark --- of Egyptian thought and culture. Preparing (in various and elaborate ways) in this life for the adventures and conflicts that one would encounter in the next life was a primary reality, an accepted fact, a rite. Now on view (through September 12th) at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa is "To Live Forever: Egyptian Treasures from the Brooklyn Museum." Our guest on StudioTulsa today is Edward Bleiberg, the curator at the Brooklyn Museum who put together this remarkable show, and who co-wrote the catalog that corresponds to it. Both the exhibit and the catalog fully explore the public's ongoing --- and long-running --- fascination with the afterlife-obsessed citizens of ancient Egypt.
