OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Flights are running on time at Oklahoma's two largest airports as furloughs kick in for 15,000 air traffic controllers nationwide.
The Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City and the Tulsa International Airport reported no major flight delays Monday morning.
Government budget cuts forced the Federal Aviation Administration to furlough its employees, including 15,000 air traffic controllers. Sunday was the first day the controllers were subject to the furloughs, which require workers to lose one day of work every other week.
The FAA has said that planes will have to take off and land less frequently, so as not to overload the remaining controllers on duty.
