Oklahoma City, OK – Noisy box at Okla. airport deemed harmless

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A suspicious and noisy package that caused evacuations at Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City has been deemed harmless.

Airport spokeswoman Karen Carney says officials gave the "all-clear" signal just before 2 p.m. Friday.

Flights are resuming and passengers are being allowed to leave the terminal.

The suspicious box arrived on an incoming flight from Houston and was discovered at a baggage claim carousel. Airport officials became suspicious after hearing sounds coming from the box.

Everyone was ordered out of the ticket lobby and baggage claim levels and an Oklahoma City Police Department bomb squad used a powerful water cannon to test the box.

FBI spokesman Clay Simmonds says the man who owned the package was unable to make the flight. Simmonds says the man was apologetic and no arrests are expected.
