On the Next Edition of All This Jazz: Some Especially Noteworthy Jazz Albums of 2014

Come on along for the next run-through of All This Jazz, right here on Public Radio 89.5 (KWGS-FM). Our show begins at 10pm on Saturday the 17th, and it's also conveyed as a live stream at PublicRadioTulsa.org.

For those unfamiliar: ATJ airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5, from 10pm till midnight. We always thereafter offer a 7pm re-airing of the program on the following Sunday evening, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our station's all-jazz HD Radio channel.

Each week, we spin all-killer-no-filler modern jazz, both recent and classic...from Mose Allison to Denny Zeitlin, Louis Armstrong to John Zorn. And the second half of our two-hour show, beginning at 11pm, invariably carries a theme.

This time around, that theme will be Notable Jazz Albums of 2014 -- and so we'll hear, in the thematic half of our proceedings, selections from CITY FOLK by James Farm, THE ART OF CONVERSATION by Kenny Barron & Dave Holland, INEVITABLE WESTERN by The Bad Plus (shown here), and more. And in the first hour of the show, we'll dig Wallace Roney, Howard Alden, Elvin Jones, et al.

Join us, radio-friendly jazz buffs! All This Jazz is most assuredly your kettle of fish.

PS: The latest playlist data for our radio show can always be found here...and the ATJ Facebook page is at this link. Thanks.

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
