Tune in for the next broadcast of All This Jazz, beginning at 10pm on Saturday the 7th, right here on Public Radio 89.5. We'll also offer, per custom, a 7pm re-airing of ATJ on Sunday the 8th on Jazz 89.5-2 -- which is our station's all-jazz HD Radio channel -- and please note that you can learn more about our show, and can always get the latest playlist information, at this link.
Each week, ATJ faithfully presents modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles...from Monty Alexander to Zoot Sims, from Louis Armstrong to John Zorn. And the second half of our two-hour program always carries a theme. (The show is also streamable, by the way -- right about here.)
Next time around, the theme is one that we love to return to, every now and again: Live Recordings. In-the-studio albums are all well and good, of course, but the glorious, endless, and improvisation-driven art form that we know as jazz is obviously best enjoyed in "live" performance --- "in person," as they say. And if not specifically in the flesh, then at least via on-location recording technology.
Thus we'll hear tasty live recordings made by Miles Davis in Munich, Lee Konitz (shown here) in Los Angeles, Chris Connor in New York, and so forth.
Join us! There's no cover, no minimum, and no worries. It's All This Jazz, pure and simple. (Oh, and please do visit us on good ol' FB, if that's your kind of thing. Thank you.)
