Tune in for the upcoming edition of All This Jazz, right here on Public Radio 89.5 (KWGS-FM). Our show begins at 10pm on Saturday the 28th, and it's also conveyed via live stream at PublicRadioTulsa.org.
For those unfamiliar: ATJ airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5, from ten till midnight. We always thereafter offer a 7pm re-airing of the program on the following Sunday evening, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our station's all-jazz HD Radio channel.
Each week, we spin modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles -- from Mose Allison to Joe Zawinul (and, in our sweet way, back again to Mose, sometimes). Plus, the second half of our two-hour show, beginning at 11pm, invariably carries a theme.
This time out, that theme will be Recent Releases, and so we'll hear from (in Part Two of our show) several outstanding jazz albums that've come out thus far in 2015. Such as, for example, new CDs by pianist Vijay Iyer, drummer Albert "Tootie" Heath, clarinetist Anat Cohen (shown here), trumpeter Duane Eubanks, and so on. And in Part One, we'll enjoy music by the Mingus Big Gand, Buddy Rich, Cindy Blackman, and many more.
Join us, jazz buffs. All This Jazz is your cup of wax. Or ball of tea. Or whatever.
PS: The latest playlist data for our radio show can be found here...and the ever-likable ATJ Facebook page resides hereupon. Thanks.
