On the Next ATJ: Various Jazz Greats Who -- Like KWGS Itself -- Were Born in 1947

Public Radio Tulsa's 70th Anniversary Celebration Continues! Join us Saturday the 30th for the next broadcast of All This Jazz, starting at 9pm here on Public Radio 89.5 / KWGS. We'll have a special third-hour theme this time around, running from 11 o'clock to midnight; in celebration of this radio station's 70th birthday -- KWGS first went on the air in October of 1947 -- our theme will be Jazz Greats Born in 1947. Thus we'll hear from bassist Miroslav Vitous, saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi (shown here), pianist Marilyn Crispell, and more.

And elsewhere in our program, we’ll dig music by the likes of Charlie Byrd, Ahmad Jamal, Randy Sandke, and Bill Charlap, to name just a few. Every Saturday night, both online and over the air, ATJ delivers three solid hours of recent and classic jazz, across a wide range of styles. From Chris Connor to Kris Davis, Duke Pearson to Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck to Dave Douglas, and Herbie Nichols to Herbie Hancock, All This Jazz is delighted by modern (and post-modern!) jazz in its many forms, and we love sharing the same with our listeners.

So, please join us! (Also, note that ATJ playlist information can usually be found here, although you'll have to scroll down a bit -- and we also maintain a Facebook page for our show. Thanks.)

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
