On the Next All This Jazz, We'll Dig Some Nifty Extended Works for the Extended "Fall Break" Weekend

Listen for the next edition of All This Jazz, right here on Public Radio 89.5 KWGS-FM, airing at 9pm on Saturday the 17th -- and online via live stream at publicradiotulsa.org. (We'll also rebroadcast the show on Sunday the 18th at 7pm on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our station's all-jazz-all-the-time HD Radio channel.)

From Duke Ellington to Duke Pearson to Duke Jordan, and from Dave Brubeck to Dave Douglas to David Murray, our program delivers three hours of modern jazz -- across a range of styles and timeframes -- each and every Saturday night, from 9 till midnight.

On the forthcoming installment of ATJ: Alvin Queen, Serge Chaloff, Cannonball Adderley (shown here), Jim Hall, and much more. And in the theme-driven, 11-to-midnight hour of All This Jazz, we'll celebrate the extended "Fall Break" weekend that many folks will be enjoying by offering an Extended Works theme -- and, in this regard, we'll dig longer pieces by the likes of, among others, the Marty Ehrlich Large Ensemble (from a terrific 2013 release called A TRUMPET IN THE MORNING) and Miles Davis (from his GET UP WITH IT double-album, a fusion/funk-jazz classic recorded from 1970 to 1974).

Join us, fellow jazz freaks!

We've got the goods and then some, and we feel like sharing.

(Two final points: ATJ playlist information can be found here...and we also maintain a Facebook page for our show. Gracias.)

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
