On the Next All This Jazz: The Music of Stanley Turrentine, Gerry Mulligan, Robert Glasper, and More

Please listen to the forthcoming edition of All This Jazz, beginning at 10pm on Saturday the 5th, right here on Public Radio 89.5-1. We'll also offer, as always, a 7pm re-airing of ATJ on Sunday the 6th on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our station's mighty fine all-jazz HD Radio channel. (And note that you can learn more about our show, and can always access the latest playlist information, at this link.)

Every week, we faithfully present modern jazz, both recent and classic...from Geri Allen to John Zorn, from Cannonball Adderly to Joe Zawinul. And the second half of our two-hour program always carries a theme.

In the latter hour of our next program, theme-wise, we'll be breaking out the proverbial cake, ice cream, and candles.... Meaning, we'll throw the spotlight (in the 11pm segment of ATJ) on a handful of jazz greats whose birthdays fall on this very weekend, including Stanley Turrentine (born April 5, 1934, and shown here), Robert Glasper (born April 5, 1978), Gerry Mulligan (born April 6, 1927), Art Taylor (born April 6, 1929), Randy Weston (born April 6, 1926), and John Pizzarelli (born April 6, 1960).

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
