On the Next All This Jazz, Excellent Live Tracks from Gary Bartz, Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano, and More

Tune in for the next All This Jazz, beginning at 10pm on Saturday the 4th, right here on Public Radio 89.5. We'll also offer, per custom, a 7pm re-airing of ATJ on Sunday the 5th on Jazz 89.5-2 -- which is our station's all-jazz HD Radio channel -- and please note that you can learn more about our show, and can always get the latest playlist information, at this link.

Each week, ATJ delivers modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles...from Monty Alexander to Zoot Sims, from Louis Armstrong to John Zorn. And the second half of our two-hour program always carries a theme. (The show is also streamable, by the way, right about here.)

Next time around, the theme is Live Recordings, and so we'll hear a mighty fine array of jazz players captured "live" in performance. In fact, our theme will have something of a globetrotting aspect this week as we hear in-concert cuts from, among others, Buddy Rich in London, Bill Frisell (shown here) in Spain, Gary Bartz in New York, and Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas in California (at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 2013, from a brand-new album on the Blue Note label). And in the first half of ATJ, we'll dig tasty sides from Chris Potter, John Patton, Allen Toussaint, et al.

Join us!

There's no cover, no minimum, and no worries. It's All This Jazz, pure and simple.

(And finally, please visit us on good ol' Facebook, if that's your kind of thing. Cheers.)

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
