On the Next All This Jazz, "Double Takes" from Albums by Ahmad Jamal, Miles Davis, and Others

Tune in for the next installment of All This Jazz, airing at 9pm local time on Saturday the 22nd, right here on Public Radio 89.5 / KWGS-FM (and streaming free-of-charge at publicradiotulsa.org).

From Armstrong to Ellington to Bird, from Monk to Metheny to Wynton, and from MMW to EST to Vijay Iyer...ATJ offers three hours of modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles -- and we always employ a theme in the 11-to-midnight hour of our broadcast. This time around, that theme will be "Double Takes," as we'll hear two tracks apiece (in the third and final hour of our show) from four different outstanding jazz albums: ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by the Miles Davis Quintet (released 1957; shown here), THWIRL by Stephan Crump's Rosetta Trio (released 2013), LIVE AT THE JAZZ GALLERY by the Jason Lindner Big Band (released 2007), and THE AWAKENING by the Ahmad Jamal Trio (released 1970).

Elsewhere in the program, we'll hear from the likes of Gil Evans, Mark Soskin, Mel Powell, Joe Lovano, and more.

Join us! If you're a jazz buff, then All This Jazz is "all you," for certain.

(Two final points: ATJ playlist information can be found here...and we also maintain a Facebook page for our show. Thank you.)

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
