Please tune in for the forthcoming broadcast of All This Jazz, beginning at 10pm on Saturday the 25th -- right here on Public Radio 89.5 (KWGS-FM)...and online via live stream at PublicRadioTulsa.org.
For our second-hour theme, in honor of Halloween, we'll dig a frighteningly tuneful array of "Witch" tunes. From well-known standards like "Witchcraft" and "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" to the title track from Art Blakey's fine Blue Note album called "The Witch Doctor," we'll hear outstanding cuts from a range of jazz greats past and present.
And prior to this, in the first hour of ATJ, we'll hear from the laudable, no-less-hexing likes of Jim Hall, Ralph Alessi, Ali Jackson, and more.
Join us, if you can. It's sure to be a veritable cauldron of excellent music -- one bubbling over, as it were, with skill and swing and spirit.
(The fine print: ATJ [please see the latest playlist data here] airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5, from 10pm till midnight. We always thereafter offer a 7pm re-airing of the program on Sunday evening, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our station's all-jazz HD Radio channel. Each week, we spin modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles. And the second half of our two-hour program, beginning at 11pm, invariably carries a theme. Also, for those of you so inclined: All This Jazz now maintains a Facebook page. Cheers, gang.)
