Oklahoma City, OK – Tulsa-area lawmakers laud new jobs for region

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Tulsa-area state lawmakers say new investment and jobs shows the economy of North Tulsa is on the right track.

State Reps. Seneca Scott and Jabar Shumate say Tulsa Recycle and Transfer has announced a $5 million investment in North Tulsa and the creation of nearly 40 jobs.

Scott says the investment will bring innovative solutions for handling trash which result in new environmental jobs for the people of his district.

Shumate says Tulsa Recycle and Transfer is providing a huge boost to the local economy.

The company is opening a specialized plant for reclaiming recyclables from trash and reducing its impact on the environment. Officials predict the new technology could increase recycling rates for the company by 35 to 40 percent.
