Weleekta, OK – Door, window blocked in deadly Okla. house fire
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Assistant Oklahoma Fire Marshal JoAnne Sellars says two potential escape routes were blocked in a Weleetka home where a fire killed six people.
She said Thursday that three victims were found in a bedroom where the window was boarded and a second possible route was a back door but it was completely blocked.
She says the other three victims were found in another bedroom but didn't know if the window there was blocked.
The Monday fire killed 45-year-old Renee Buck, 32-year-old LaToya Bush, 9-year-old Kurstyn Pelegrin, 10-year-old Triston Pelegrin, 3-year-old James Southern and 2-year-old Barbara Southern.
The only survivor 8-year-old Tavis Southern said he ran through flames and out the front door.
A cause of the fire has not been determined but it isn't considered suspicious.
