NEW INFORMATION: On Slain Deputies
By Associated Press
Seminole, OK – SEMINOLE, Okla. (AP) An Oklahoma man arrested in the shooting deaths of two Seminole County deputies was wanted for allegedly trying to strangle his mother.
And his sister said in filing for a protective order two years ago that he had threatened to kill her children and her husband.
Ezekiel Holbert was arrested yesterday after deputies Robbie Chase Whitebird and Marvin Williams were killed while trying to serve an arrest warrant for Holbert at his mother's home.
Holbert was arrested on two first-degree murder complaints and is being held today in the Seminole County jail. District Attorney Chris Ross says Holbert will be formally charged later today.
No details were available on whether he has an attorney.
Holbert was free on bond in a domestic violence case after his mother told police in February he tried to strangle her. A stipulation of his bond was that he stay away from his mother's house.
His mother called the sheriff's office Sunday after finding him in her home.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown says the two deputies tried to serve the arrest warrant, but were immediately shot. Brown says she doesn't know if the two were able to return the gunfire.
Neighbor Jennifer Bowen was hit in the arm and chest by a stray bullet and is in serious condition at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
