TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma environmental officials say a fuel spill on the Arkansas River near Muskogee does not pose a significant threat.
The Tulsa World reports the source of Saturday's spill has not been located but that officials believe the substance is no longer leaking.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Captain Paul Timmons said the roughly 46-mile-long spill is narrow, with some of it moving into the area of Three Forks Harbor and the rest downstream.
Skylar McElhaney, public information officer for the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, says officials have not found any dead fish. McElhaney says the spill isn't a substantial amount despite its length, so the plan is to let it disperse naturally.
Timmons says the leak's source was not a vessel and that the substance was not oil.
