Tulsa, Oklahoma – (Note: This program first aired earlier this year.) Naturalist Lyanda Lynn Haupt's latest book uses the inquisitive, intelligent American Crow as a metaphor for finding and observing nature in one's own backyard. "Crow Planet: Essential Wisdom from the Urban Wilderness" (Little, Brown) shares what science now knows about crows (which in itself is impressive and fascinating), and the book also shows how reconsidering a common urban species can lead to a new understanding of the world outside your window. Seattle-based Haupt joins us by phone on StudioTulsa. Also on this edition of our show: Barry Friedman, one of our regular commentators, has some thoughts on death and celebrity in America today.
