National Teacher of 2013 to Speak at NSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) — Last year's National Teacher of the Year is slated to speak this week at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

Thursday's appearance and speech by Jeffrey Charbonneau will help celebrate teaching in Tahlequah.

Charbonneau teaches chemistry, physics and engineering at Zillah High School in Zillah, Wash.

The school's celebration of teaching program assists public school students, especially minorities, to have early, positive experiences with college and those who educate teachers.

NSU has the event annually in hopes that many of the students who attend will chose a career path in education.

Aside from teaching full-time at ZHS, Charbonneau also serves as an adjunct faculty member at three colleges and universities.
