Mumford & Sons: The Power Of 'Babel'

Early fans of Mumford & Sons' debut album, Sigh No More, had to wait a while for the London band's second release. Marcus Mumford, Country Winston Marshall, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane spent the last three years traveling the world and playing to increasingly huge crowds as their popularity bloomed.

The group took its time and got it right on Babel (the guys pronounce it "BAY-bull"), fleshing out the lyrically rich, melodic tunes with lively arrangements. Mumford & Sons recently visited WFUV in New York City to perform songs from the new album, and the four-part harmonies and driving rhythm of "Whispers in the Dark" definitely provided a highlight.

Mumford & Sons' visit also featured a madcap interview full of humor and humility, with unexpected background on songwriting methods (more collaborative than you'd think) and the deep relationship its members have built with their fans. Watch more songs from the performance and listen to the interview at WFUV.org.
