Multi-Mile Detour Begins Today on Highway 75

O-DOT

The second phase of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project on US-75 in Tulsa will have a major impact to traffic starting Monday, March 19.

  • Work begins at 6 a.m. Monday to set up the detour route signs, and once complete all lanes of northbound US-75 will close between 41st St. South and Southwest Blvd. (near the Red Fork split, just north of the I-44 junction) through early July, weather permitting.

  • Northbound US-75 will be narrowed to one lane near the I-44 junction and will be directed to detour to westbound I-44 and to eastbound I-244 for access to northbound US-75 during this time.

  • While local traffic will still have access to the northbound US-75 exit at 41st St. South, highway traffic is urged to follow the marked detour route at the I-44 interchange.

  • Westbound I-44 traffic will also need to follow the detour route during this time for access to northbound US-75.

  • Delays can be expected along the detour route, especially during peak travel times. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel times in these areas or seek an alternate route.

The northbound US-75 bridge over Southwest Blvd. was built in 1972 and is considered structurally deficient. The project includes replacing the deck and bridge walls and also substructure repairs. Work is also completing on the first phase of the $3 million project at the US-75/I-44 junction.
