Tulsa, OK – Mountain lion captured in Tulsa, origin sought

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A mountain lion has been captured in the back yard of a north Tulsa home and animal experts are now trying to determine where it came from.

The 70-pound female lion is estimated to be 1 to 2 years old and was caught after being spotted in a tree on Saturday. The animal was taken to the Tulsa Zoo where tests will be conducted in an effort to determine if she was previously in captivity or perhaps someone's pet.

The tests include determining whether the lion has been tagged or has markings indicating previous captivity.

Zoo spokeswoman Angela Evans told the Tulsa World the lion is wary of humans and is stressed and that testing won't begin until she becomes acclimated to the new surroundings.
