Motorcycle Safety Awareness Day Celebrated

File Photo

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Groups across Oklahoma gather at the Capitol to promote motorcycle safety and awareness.

On Monday, motorcyclists from across the state traveled to the state Capitol to celebrate motorcycle safety awareness month. Motorcyclists were on hand to educate all drivers about how to safely share the road with motorcycles.

The event was a collaboration between the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, the Department of Transportation and the National Highway Safety Administration. These groups educated people on the National Highway Safety Administration's movement to encourage riders to wear helmets and other protective gear, to be properly licensed and actively seek training, and to encourage all motorists to participate in the "Share the Road" concept of making highways and roads safer and more enjoyable for all drivers.
