Tulsa, Ok – 16 Oklahoma counties under excessive heat warning

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Sixteen Oklahoma counties are under an excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service.

The warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Friday.

Forecasters say high pressure will remain anchored over the central plains into next week, bringing an extended period of excessive heat. They say afternoon heat indexes will be in the 105-to-110-degree range and overnight lows will remain warm, providing little to no relief from the heat.

People are advised to take extra precautions if working outside in the heat and to reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours.
