Norman, OK – Okla fire crews battling wildfire south of Norman

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Firefighters are battling a large wildfire south of Norman in Cleveland County.

Emergency management director Dan Cary says the fire is located near Slaughterville but he didn't have any additional details

Footage from television news helicopters showed plumes of white smoke over a field and flames shooting from cedar trees in the area.

A dispatcher at the Lexington Police Department says firefighters from Lexington were on the scene of the blaze.

Oklahoma has been plagued by wildfires this month. More than 30 homes have been destroyed, most of those in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area on March 11.

Two homes were destroyed in the Guymon area of the Oklahoma Panhandle on Tuesday.
