Moore Food Warehouse Decapitation Trial Moves Forward

Google Street View

A manager at an Oklahoma food processing plant says he witnessed a former employee at the plant attack and behead a co-worker with a large butcher knife three years ago.

Gary Hazelrigg was the first witness to testify Friday in the trial of 33-year-old Alton Nolen. Nolen is charged with first-degree murder in the Sept. 25, 2014, attack at Vaughan Foods in Moore in which 54-year-old Colleen Hufford was killed.

Hazelrigg, the customer service manager at the plant at the time, told the jury that Hufford had come into his office when Nolen came up behind her, pulled her neck beck and drew the knife across her throat.

Nolen's defense attorneys are asking jurors to find him not guilty by reason of insanity. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
