Tulsa, Oklahoma – These aren't your grandmother's quilts. Not even close. On today's StudioTulsa, we present an engaging conversation with the Wichita-based artist Jill Rumoshosky Werner. She's the curator for a new show called "Modern Materials: The Art of the Quilt," which opens tomorrow night (Friday the 5th) at 5pm at the Living Arts Gallery in downtown Tulsa (at 307 East Brady). It's a wide-ranging, interesting-looking exhibit that brings together some 30 works by 24 different fiber artists from across the country, thereby spotlighting some of the finest, most innovative contemporary American artists now working in the quilt medium. There's a special emphasis on three-dimensional work within the show --- and, as we learn on today's program, the curator has included a couple of her own works in "Modern Materials" as well. (You can learn more about this show at http://livingarts.org/myers.htm --- and about Werner's work in particular at http://www.wernerstudio.com.)
