Tulsa, OK – Miss Oklahoma preliminaries continue

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Miss University of Oklahoma has picked up a $1,000 cash scholarship in the talent competition on the second preliminary night of the 2009 Miss Oklahoma pageant.

Twenty-one-year-old Taylor Treat of Ada performed ballet on pointe to "Palladio" last night. Treat is a senior human relations major at the university.

Whitney Nelms, Miss McAlester, won the newcomer talent competition with her jazz dance performance to "The Life of the Party." The 18-year-old McAlester resident, who will attend the University of Oklahoma, earned a $500 cash scholarship.

Emoly West, Miss Grand Lake, won a $300 cash scholarship in the swimsuit competition. The 23-year-old Edmond resident is a senior fine arts major at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Preliminary competition concludes today and the final is Saturday at Oral Roberts University Mabee Center.
