Oklahoma City, OK – Former Okla. deputy faces trail for misconduct
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A former Stephens County sheriff's deputy charged with sexually assaulting women he allegedly targeted while on the job is to go on trial in Duncan.
Jury selection begins Monday for 29-year-old Brandon Balthrop. Balthrop faces six felony counts including sexual battery, kidnapping and second-degree rape by instrumentation.
Balthrop allegedly molested four women, ages 16-37, between 2007 and 2010 while he was a deputy sheriff. Balthrop has denied wrongdoing.
Defense attorney James Kee says Balthrop is "absolutely innocent" of the charges and suggested the women's allegations are motivated by money.
Each of the women has filed civil lawsuits in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City seeking damages from Balthrop, Sheriff Wayne McKinney and others.
Attorney Tim Kittle represents the four women and says none of the four knew each other.
