Memorial Service Sunday for Slain Family of 3

DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) — A memorial service is scheduled Sunday for a slain Oklahoma newspaper publisher and two of his family members whose bodies were discovered at their home earlier this week.

Services for John, Tinker and Katherine Hruby will be at the First United Methodist Church in Duncan. A reception will follow the service.

The Hrubys' son, Alan, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of his parents and sister.

Prosecutors allege Alan Hruby planned to kill his family in hopes of inheriting money to pay off mounting debts — including thousands of dollars he owed to a loan shark.

John Hruby was the publisher of The Marlow Review, a weekly newspaper with a circulation of about 3,500. His wife, Tinker, also worked at the paper.
