Memo: Owasso City Manager Ordered Videos Deleted

File Photo

OWASSO, Okla. (AP) — A memo shows that the suspended Owasso city manager ordered the deletion of police videos of a field sobriety test in which the city's vice mayor was initially told by police that he was being arrested for driving under the influence — but eventually was driven home by an officer.

The memo from City Manager Rodney Ray dated April 25th and obtained by the Tulsa World tells information technology Director Teresa Wilson to "purge" the files of Vice Mayor Chris Kelley's traffic stop.

Kelley was not charged and denies being under the influence when he was stopped February 1st.

Ray was placed on paid leave last month while his office is investigated. The City Council said only that it was prompted by a city employee's complaint.

Ray declined comment.
