Meeting Set on Improving Juvenile Justice in Oklahoma

he Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy Facebook

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy is to host a forum next week on how to improve the state's juvenile justice system.

The forum is scheduled for March 21 at Youth Services of Tulsa. A panel of experts will discuss the current state of the juvenile justice system and ways to improve conditions for Oklahoma's youth.

Event organizers say Oklahoma continually lags behind the rest of the nation in how it raises its children.

The annual Kids Count Data Book released by the Annie E. Casey Foundation ranks Oklahoma 36th in the nation on key indicators that impact child well-being.

The institute says the ranking is an improvement from the previous year's report, but says Oklahoma is still below the national average in indicators ranging from education to child health.
