Meet Virginia Campbell On This Week's Performance Oklahoma
For over 30 years, Oklahoma City pianist, teacher, entertainer and entrepreneur Virginia Campbell has offered the Piano Artist Series. Begun as a special concert and festival to host Austrian pianist and teacher Jorg Demus in the mid-1980s, the series has evolved over the years to include a number of pianists from around the world, along with a sprinkling of chamber ensembles and vocalists. The concerts, held on Sunday afternoons first took place at Bethany Nazarene College and after that, in Oklahoma City at First Presbyterian Church, Christ the King, St. Eugene’s and currently, All Soul’s Episcopal Church. In this program we’ll meet Virginia and learn about the history of the series, and we’ll hear excerpts from several concerts offered by the guest artists presented last season including Cristiana Pegoraro, The Paganini Trio, Valery Kuleshov. Chih-Long Hu, Amy I-Lin Cheng and J. Warren Mitchell.
Listen to Performance Oklahoma this Saturday at 8:00 pm on Classical 88.7-1.
