Meet Playwright, Screenwriter, and Director John Patrick Shanley

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of StudioTulsa, we speak by phone with John Patrick Shanley. Born in The Bronx in 1950, Shanley is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and director who'll appear at a free-to-the-public reading and lecture on the TU campus on Wednesday the 17th. This event happens at 7pm in the Lorton Hall Lecture Hall. Some background: Shanley won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the 1987 film, "Moonstruck." In 2005, Shanley's play, "Doubt: A Parable," was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play. In 2008, Shanley directed a film version of "Doubt" starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Shanley's appearance at TU has been tagged "Room for Doubt: An Evening with John Patrick Shanley."
