Meet NPR Favorite, and "Science Friday" Host and Creator, Ira Flatow

By Rich Fisher

Tulsa, Oklahoma – We speak by phone today with Ira Flatow, the veteran NPR science reporter and host. Flatow's career began nearly four decades ago, when he was working at a college-radio station in Buffalo, New York, while majoring in engineering; nowadays, of course, he anchors the popular "Talk of the Nation: Science Friday" program, which can be heard on this public-radio station every Friday at 1pm. On Sunday evening (the 22nd) at 7pm, Flatow will appear as a guest in the "Talking Heads" series at Congregation B'nai Emunah in Tulsa (near 17th and Peoria); he'll be giving an address on "The Irresistible Sexiness of Science." (For more information on this event, please visit tulsagogue.com.) As Flatow tells our host Rich Fisher, everywhere you look today, science is increasingly becoming "cool" --- or even "sexy" --- in this country.
