Mayor Says BMX Facility is on Schedule

KWGS File Photo

Mayor Bynum is pleased with progress being made on the new Tulsa BMX facility. It will be built on the site of the old Evans-Fintube Industrial location, just northeast of the IDL. Despite some reports to the contrary, the mayor says everything is on schedule.

Voters approved $15-million for project in 2016 as part of the Vision renewal process. At that time, the location was expected to be on the Fairgrounds.

Mayor Bynum says part of the complex will pay tribute to the location's industrial past. It is hoped the facility will open in the spring of next year. Part of the complex will include an arena for BMX races.

The mayor expects the complex to spur economic development in the area, much like the BOK Center did a decade ago.
