Mannford Disaster Center to Close on Friday

Samatha Robbins

MANNFORD, Okla. (AP) — Emergency officials say a disaster recovery center in Mannford set up for residents affected by the August wildfires will close this week.

The center opened Aug. 27 to serve Creek County homeowners, renters and businesses following the wildfire that burned between Aug. 3 and Aug. 14. The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management say the center will close at 6 p.m. Friday.

The center is staffed by state and federal emergency management officials and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Emergency officials say more than 600 people have used the center to register and fill out paperwork for disaster relief.

The fires burned 90 square miles in Creek County.
